PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

  1. Get a good night’s sleep the day before your appointment so your body is relaxed and ready.

  2. Please have a full meal and drink plenty of water before arriving. Low blood sugar can cause you to feel lightheaded during the session.

  3. Do not drink alcohol or take painkillers 24 hours before your appointment. They thin your blood and can cause excess bleeding.

  4. Keep the area hydrated in the days leading up to your session, but avoid applying lotion or oils on the day of your appointment.

  5. Choose clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed and that you don’t mind getting ink on.

  6. Take a shower before your appointment. Clean skin helps your artist work safely and comfortably.

  7. Your artist will handle shaving if necessary to avoid irritation or cuts.

  4. You have a skin condition.

  5. You’re under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  6. You’re on certain medications.

  7. You have severe allergies or medical conditions.

FAQ

VIEWING YOUR TATTOO DESIGN

After the initial contact, we’ll schedule a Zoom call so I can better understand you, your vision, and your story. About a week later, we’ll have another Zoom call to go through the designs together before your session. The stencils I prepare are intentionally simple and only represent 20% of the process. The other 80% happens in action, directly on your body, where the piece takes on its proper depth, flow, and energy. What you receive is not a copy, not something found on Pinterest or AI, but a one-of-a-kind creation, tailored exclusively for you and your body.

HOW TATTOO INK REMAINS IN THE SKIN

The ink deposits in the second layer of your skin, called the dermis. The layer is deeper and more stable than the outer layer, the epidermis, which constantly sheds and renews. Once the ink is placed in the dermis, your body’s immune system reacts. White blood cells try to remove the ink particles. The remaining ink gets trapped in the skin’s connective tissue, where it stays visible through the top layer.

COVER-UP TATTOOS AND SCAR TATTOOING

Cover-up tattoos are available, but their suitability depends on various factors, such as the darkness and size of the existing tattoo. Often, lightening the old tattoo with laser treatments is recommended before attempting a cover-up.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A TATTOO TO HEAL

  • Days 1-3: The tattoo will feel sore, red, and slightly swollen. Keep it clean and follow aftercare instructions.

  • Days 4-14: The tattoo starts to scab and peel. This is normal. Avoid picking or scratching it, as this could cause fading or scarring.

  • Weeks 3-4: The peeling slows down, and the tattoo may look slightly dull while new skin forms.

Even when it appears healed on the surface, the deeper layers are still repairing, so continue to moisturize and protect it from the sun and friction.

Healing time can vary depending on placement, size, color, and your personal health and aftercare routine.
